The District of Mission is located on a southern coastal mountain slope that overlooks the valley and the Fraser River. Today the area is rapidly growing and is home to a population of some 38,000 residents.
Surrounded by the beauty of mountainous vistas and natural forest settings, Mission is ideally located 15 minutes from the US border, and about 70 kilometres east of Vancouver. We enjoy warm summers and generally mild winters.
Mission is open and welcoming to its citizens and businesses, new residents, investors and visitors alike. When you make your new home here, you will see for yourself why Mission is "The Jewel in the Valley".
Getting Here and Getting Around
If you are coming by car, you can either take the Lougheed Highway (Highway 7), which takes you right into Mission, or the Trans-Canada Highway (Hwy 1). From Hwy 1 in Abbotsford, you should take the Sumas exit (Exit 92) and head north on the Abbotsford-Mission Highway (Hwy 11). Mission is about a 15-minute drive from Abbotsford. You will know you are here as you cross the Mission Bridge.
Mission is a stop on the West Coast Express line. There are five daily trips from downtown Vancouver to downtown Mission every week day. Train-bus service is available on weekends. A one way trip takes about an hour with stops in our neighbour cities of Port Haney, Maple Meadows, Pitt Meadows, Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam and Port Moody.
Local bus services are provided through BC Transit and the Central Fraser Valley Transit system. Greyhound service is also available. Mission is also easily reached from three airports: Abbotsford, Vancouver, and Bellingham, WA.
